Singapore My Home is a nationwide photography competition which provides an opportunity for all to share through their lenses what Singapore means to them.
This year, we encourage Singaporeans both locally and overseas to appreciate and celebrate all that we love about Singapore. Singapore is a shared home for all Singaporeans from all walks of life and where our future lies.
Amidst the familiar hustle and bustle of progress, let's take a moment to celebrate all the things that we love about our country; the feelings of warmth, fondness and loyalty. From the flavorsome assortment of food, the numerous recreational and social activities and facilities, shopping paradise, to the safety and greenery of her streets, the theme draws upon the varied reasons why many have chosen Singapore as their home.
While Singaporeans today continue to be well traveled, it is this same exposure that reminds us of what is great about our country. The unmistakable feeling of comfort, security and familiarity that accompanies any Singaporean who returns to the country no matter how long or short the period of absence accentuates the allures of Singapore. Every Singaporean has something that they love about Singapore.
This photography competition invites all Singaporeans young and old to openly express their affection towards the nation. The theme aptly captures the desire of the younger generation to be expressive and candid regarding matter close to the heart. At the same time it allows the older generation to indulge in nostalgia and reflect on the heartfelt experiences of having lived in Singapore.
Regardless of our differences and varied reasons for loving Singapore, this small island is our shared home, reflects a collective ownership, assuring Singaporeans that everyone has a stake in Singapore. Singapore represents a safe haven that not only protects its dwellers and guests from threats but also creates a healthy environment for the young to grow. Hence, this underpins the collective commitment for all Singaporeans to make this island the definitive home for all her residents, regardless of background and origin.
